My lifelong fascination with volcanoes has taken me from Iceland’s fissured highlands to America’s restless calderas, where I’ve witnessed landscapes being reborn in heat and flame. To me, every eruption is less an ending than the first breath of new life, and this piece captures that paradox in a single, mythic creature.
